ZoomInfo alternatives: which tool finds local businesses with verified emails?

ZoomInfo is built for enterprise sales: 500M+ contacts, org charts and intent data, priced by quote and billed yearly with a seat minimum, though its GTM.AI arm now sells API access pay as you go. Teams look elsewhere for a published monthly price or for small businesses. Apollo is the closest swap at a per-seat price, Lusha and RocketReach sell contacts by the credit, and Hunter.io finds emails at a company's domain. For local businesses that list themselves on Google Maps, Lyre Leads, which we make, finds them by keyword across a city, reads each website and verifies every address. Every competitor fact below links to the vendor's own page.

Is there a ZoomInfo alternative without an annual contract?

ZoomInfo's own pricing guide says its platform plans are quoted individually, mostly billed yearly up front, and come with a seat minimum. Two things have softened that. ZoomInfo Lite is free with 10 credits a month, and GTM.AI, ZoomInfo's developer arm, sells API, CLI and MCP access pay as you go from $20, with no contract or seat fees.

Each of the alternatives publishes a monthly price. Apollo's Basic plan is $65 a seat billed monthly. Lusha's Starter is $49.90 for 400 credits, Hunter.io's Starter $49 for 2,000 credits, and RocketReach's Essentials $69 in the US for 100 lookups. Lyre Leads is $39 for 7,500 leads, each a business found with its email verified, and 500 leads a month are free.

Does ZoomInfo cover local businesses?

ZoomInfo builds its database from web crawling, filings, job postings, partners and more than 300 human researchers, and it holds 500M+ contacts and 100M+ companies. We found no statement on its site about how well that covers small local businesses such as plumbers, salons or clinics.

Those businesses describe themselves on Google Maps. Lyre Leads searches Maps live for any keyword, and in complete coverage mode searches a city from many overlapping points; in our test of 24 trade-and-city pairs that found about 2.2 times as many businesses as one paged search in the median city (method and numbers). Apollo also added a Google Maps search to its paid plans, showing up to 60 businesses a search.

Which gives verified emails?

  • ZoomInfo states a 96% email deliverability rate from automated checks and human researchers; we found no per-email status labels on its public pages.
  • Apollo labels each email verified, catch-all or unverified, and quotes 98%, 91% and over 90% accuracy on different pages.
  • Lusha describes SMTP mailbox, catch-all and role checks, and states 98% accuracy.
  • RocketReach grades each email A to F and charges only for the top two grades.
  • Hunter.io publishes its verifier's checks, including an SMTP mailbox check and its own method for catch-all domains.
  • Lyre Leads checks every address it finds at the mailbox, through MillionVerifier, and labels catch-all addresses rather than counting them as verified.

Vendor accuracy figures measure different things and can't be lined up against each other; we explain why in what email accuracy numbers actually measure.

When is ZoomInfo still the better choice?

When you sell to mid-market and enterprise accounts and need more than contacts: org charts, intent signals across thousands of topics, website-visitor identification, technographics covering 30,000+ technologies, and deep CRM sync. Its MCP server is in Claude's connector directory, and GTM.AI lets a developer try the data without a contract. For a large sales and RevOps team that will sign the annual agreement, it's the most complete option here.

When is Lyre Leads the wrong choice?

  • You sell to enterprises. They aren't found through Google Maps, and they need the org charts a contact database provides.
  • You need direct dials and mobile numbers for named people; we give the business phone from its Google listing.
  • You need intent data about who is researching a topic. We report changes on a business's own website, not what it reads elsewhere.

How do you test them before you pay?

Pick the segment you sell to. For local businesses, take one trade in one city, pull it from ZoomInfo Lite or your current database and from the alternative, remove duplicates by name and street address, and count what each found inside the city. Put every email through one mailbox verifier and compare what comes back deliverable, then set that against what each would cost for a year.
