Scrap.io and Outscraper side by side
| Scrap.io | Outscraper | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | Exports business listings from its own index of Google Maps places (plus Apple and Bing Maps), chosen by Google category and area. | Pay-as-you-go data platform: live Google Maps scraping plus separately priced enrichments and dozens of other sources. |
| How it finds businesses | Filters its own stored index (225,676,406 listings in 195 countries, by its count) by Google category and area, up to a whole country. No free-text keyword search. | One Google Maps search per query, up to 500 places. For dense areas it tells you to split the query; the app can split a city by zip code or neighbourhood. |
| Cheapest paid plan | Basic €49, priced in euros (€35 billed yearly): 10,000 export credits, one per place. Whole-country search needs the €499 Company plan. | No subscription. Google Maps places: first 500 free, then $3 per 1,000 up to 100,000, then $1 per 1,000. Emails and contacts are priced separately, from $3 per 1,000 sites. |
| Free tier | No free plan; a 7-day trial with a card covers up to 50 searches and 100 export credits. | First 500 Google Maps places and 500 website email lookups free each billing period; a card or prepaid credits needed to start. |
| Emails | Up to 5 emails per business, found on its website, each with the page it came from. | A separately billed Emails & Contacts service reads each business website for emails, phones and social links. |
| Email verification | API documents mail-server checks only (MX record, provider, webmail, disposable). Its marketing calls the emails verified in real time. | A separate, billed Email Address Verifier checks the mailbox (SMTP). |
| API and AI assistants | REST API and an MCP server (Claude, ChatGPT) on every plan. | REST API with official SDKs in six languages. |
| Best for (our view) | Large exports of a whole Google category across a region or country, with the count shown before you spend. | Occasional or technical users who want cheap per-record extraction and pay only for what they switch on. |
| Sources | home, guide, categories help, pricing, trial help, emails, API docs, MCP help | API docs, app, Maps prices, email prices |
Checked 14 October 2026. Each row links to the pages its facts were read on. Prices are in US dollars, per month on monthly billing, unless the cell says otherwise. "Best for" is our judgement, and we make Lyre Leads.
Outscraper's own website answered every request with a bot check on 14 October 2026, so its prices here come from the price data its web app loads and its API documentation, both on Outscraper's own domains.
How does each one find businesses?
Scrap.io filters a stored index. It says it holds 225,676,406 listings across 195 countries, and you choose one of its 4,000+ Google categories and an area: a city, a county or state, a radius, a polygon, or on the top plan a whole country. Its help centre is plain about the trade-off: "Unlike Google Maps, on Scrap.io, you cannot perform keyword searches." In return you see how many businesses match before you spend a credit, and Scrap.io says each record is refreshed at export time. Exporting still takes a while at volume; its own example is 11,734 businesses in 45 minutes. It also covers Apple Maps and Bing Maps.
Outscraper scrapes Google Maps live. You type any query, a category or a phrase plus a location, and it scrolls the results up to its stated ceiling of 500 places per query. For dense areas its documentation tells you to split the query into smaller areas, and the web app can do that by zip code or by neighbourhood. Outscraper also sells reviews, other sources and a stored business database through the same account.
So the first question is whether your market is a Google category. "Dentist" is. "Commercial roofers" or "salons with online booking" aren't, and only a live search takes those words as they are.
Which is cheaper for 10,000 businesses?
Take a month in which you want 10,000 businesses with whatever emails their websites carry.
- Scrap.io: the Basic plan, €49 a month (€35 a month billed yearly), includes 10,000 export credits, and a credit is one exported place. Its exports carry the emails it found, and we found no separate email charge on its pricing page. Credits reset each month and don't carry over.
- Outscraper: the first 500 places are free, then $3 per 1,000, so 10,000 places come to about $28.50. Emails are a separate service priced per website, again 500 free and then $3 per 1,000, so up to about $28.50 more if every business has a site. That's roughly $28.50 to $57, with no subscription, and both rates drop to $1 per 1,000 past 100,000. A query that finds nothing is billed as one place.
At this volume Outscraper costs less and charges only for what you pull, while Scrap.io gives you a fixed bill and the count up front. The two are also priced in different currencies: Scrap.io's pricing page is in euros, Outscraper's prices are in dollars.
Which gives you better emails?
Both read emails off the businesses' own websites, and neither includes a mailbox check in the base price.
Scrap.io returns up to five emails per business with the page each one came from. Its API documents mail-server checks on each address (whether the domain has MX records, the provider, webmail, disposable), and its marketing describes the emails as verified in real time at export; its own email guide still tells senders to verify a list before sending. Outscraper's Emails & Contacts service returns emails, phones and social links per website, and a separate, billed Email Address Verifier runs an SMTP check on the mailbox.
Run whatever either tool returns through a mailbox-level verifier before you send. In our own study of 2,482 emails scraped from business websites, 14.2% of the addresses a mailbox check could decide were already dead (the decay study).
Which works better with code and AI assistants?
Both have a REST API. Scrap.io includes the API and an MCP server for Claude and ChatGPT on every plan, at 120 API requests a minute. Outscraper's API covers far more than Google Maps and ships official SDKs in six languages, which makes it the more flexible base for a pipeline that pulls from several sources.
Which should I pick?
| If you need | Pick | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A whole Google category across a state or country | Scrap.io | Filters an index that already exists and shows the count first |
| A search term that isn't a Google category | Outscraper | Live search takes any query |
| Occasional pulls with no subscription | Outscraper | Pay as you go, 500 places free each period |
| A fixed monthly bill for steady volume | Scrap.io | Plans priced by monthly export credits |
| Apple Maps or Bing Maps listings as well | Scrap.io | Covers all three map sources |
| Reviews and other sources in the same pipeline | Outscraper | One account and API across dozens of sources |
| A mailbox check from the same vendor | Outscraper | A separate SMTP verifier, billed per address |
Is there a third option?
We make one, so read this section knowing that. Lyre Leads searches Google Maps live for any keyword, like Outscraper, and in complete coverage mode searches each city from many overlapping points and merges the results. In our test of 24 trade-and-city pairs that found about 2.2 times as many businesses as one paged search in the median city (method and numbers). It then reads each business's own website to check it's what you searched for, and checks every address at the mailbox, both included in a monthly plan: 500 leads free, then $39 for 7,500. It's the wrong pick if you want a whole country exported right now from a stored index (Scrap.io), or raw rows at the lowest price per record (Outscraper). There's a sourced comparison of all three with other tools on our Outscraper alternatives and Scrap.io alternatives pages.
